For 2011, General public and Boy and Girl Scout participation will be Saturday and Sunday, March 26 and 27. Help is needed for set up on Friday March 25th and take down late Friday April 1. We plan to reach 1,500 members of the general public, 1,500 students and 100 plus teachers and parents. The student participation days will be Monday through Friday, March 28 to April 1. (Monday – Wednesday will have morning and afternoon sessions. Thursday and Friday will have one large session that stays all day. Volunteers on those 2 days need to be there all day. Partial days are possible on Monday to Wednesday and Saturday and Sunday. We are seeking multiple day commitments from Foresters, Geologists, Archaeologists, Wildlife Biologists, Soil Scientists (willing to staff a station), Fire Management Professionals, and other resource professionals who are familiar with California forestry to assist in the hike in the woods, and active interpretation at the exhibits.  We need volunteers for the wood products and other exhibits. For someone who might have trouble walking the trails or feels uneasy instructing students, but still would like to help, we have a position for you. We need a person each day during the week to help send out the incoming students and remain near the park kiosk in case of emergencies, relay phone messages, deliver school packets, assist late or early arrivals, etc while the trail guides are out on the trail.
